Bikers

A pleasing shot of bikers, hopefully showing how close the traffic can get.

Hanuman

A popular Hindu deity, this one is big, note the chap and cart at bottom.

On A Bus

Hotel Fanoos

It is likely that the Hotel Fanoos is keenly priced.

A Yezdi Roadking

Here is a locally produced "Yezdi". This one has 4 gears and a quoted maximum speed of 75mph. It may have the appearance of an MZ but it is in fact related to a CZ.

Shoe Seller

This one is situated on the pavement next to MG Road.

The Importance of Cricket

A cricket shirt is in a display case at a sports shop.

Hard Rock Cafe

The main event - a superb burger, likely to be buffalo rather than beef.

Motorbike Tyres

A selection of part-worn tyres sit outside this small garage.

Olive Beach

The Overseas Women's Club describe this well - "Olive Beach's Sunday brunch is one of the best in town".

Good Luck Mutton Stall

Produce is hanging outside.

Butcher, more produce and cleaver are inside.

Pillions

Two boxes to move - let's take the scooter.

These guys were looking good.

An excellent, almost nonchalent, demonstration of the side saddle technique. The dangling left leg is not a "foot signal".

Three up on a scooter with good colour co-ordination. Note the young girl's hands on the mirrors.

Four up on a small bike. Is the young boy on the tank still refered to as a "pillion"?

Hotel Breakfast Options - Special Request

Local fare is available.

Cereal and sliced fruit are available.

Pastries are available. The donuts often look tempting but are not part of one's "five a day".

A chef will cook eggs to order.

Fashion Show

The tail end of a local fashion show was stumbled upon.

This chap knew the winner and is holding her trophy.

Serenaded at Dinner

They appeared with the starters at the local Italian restaurant. They played a John Denver number and one by the guitarist's father. Colleagues and I enjoyed it. Quite romantic too, luckily no-one drank anywhere near enough to confess unwanted love for another.

Guinea Fowl Butterfly

This is the first that sat still long enough for a snap. Two to three days ago there were hordes but they did not settle.

More Construction

The project manger and site engineer.

A view of one of the buildings.

A seemingly good natured dog. Is this Zippy's long lost Indian cousin?

Italian Dinner

A view from the bar at the local Crowne Plaza. Note the coffee machine, right and wine cellar, as yet unexplored.

The restaurant head chef is Italian. Grilled vegetables to start.

Cannelloni for main course.

Tiramisu with sweet pesto for dessert. What else does a chap/gal need?

New Vehicle Blessing

Taking your new car to the temple for a blessing is considered auspicious. The shirtless priest performs an incantation and gestures with a bowl including something on fire. Donations are collected by the priest.

Next, a coconut, at bottom, is smashed near the front of the car. The car then drives over plum-like fruit.

The colours were a bit off on this hence the B&W. Flowers were sellotaped to this new car.

Parked Bikes

This line of parked bikes is typical. Most are 100cc-200cc. Most are fitted with a left rear rack. This is for a lady to use when riding side saddle, helmetless pillion. The chap up front is usually wearing the helmet.

Apartments

Some serviced apartments are in large blocks of flats. One 10th floor maisonette was available. Standing on the 10th floor balcony in a strong wind would require a harness and some "clipping on". In one block the lift did not appear to be plumb.

The entrance lobby to one place was rather dusty.

One place had a balcony and looked out over a small park.

One serviced apartment was more akin to a hotel suite.

Chap & Bike

This chap is very proud of his 200cc ish race replica. Bearing in mind that the road surface is variable, the traffic is heavy & unpredictable; the clip-ons are in my opinion "brave".

Typical Lunch

The local Crowne Plaza hotel has a very decent Italian restaurant. I often have one of their pizzas for lunch. This one is called "farm fresh".
